“The continent of Africa is characterized by problems of poverty, disease and ignorance, social unrest and lack of democratic traditions. Although efforts undertaken in the past have introduced some positive changes, Africa still has along way to go to overcome the problems of underdevelopment.” states an article in the African Tribune. The article goes on to state the importance of the youth in creating solutions to these problems.

GYMN began conducting seminars in Africa in 1996. Since that time, over 2000 youth leaders have been trained and GYMN – Africa has continuously been organizing seminars in 14 countries throughout Africa. (more…)

“Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.” ~Abraham Lincoln

We know a lot of youth workers who just love chopping down trees all day and all night if need be (or doing the ministry 24/7) but here are some events for youth workers here in the Philippines that would help sharpen our saws:

ASDECS (Asian School of Development & Cross-Cultural Studies, Inc.) is holding a training workshop next week to help expose participants to different camp formats and tools. It’s called:

Organizing Transformative Camps and Retreats

Which will be on February 8-9, 2008 at the Jabez Campsite in Dasmarinas, Cavite and the workshop fee will be P1,500.

PCEC (Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches) is also holding an event entitled:

Mentoring Younger Leaders

On February 6-8, 2008 at the Christian Development Center in Tagaytay City.
Registration fee will be P2,500.

If you want to register or get more information, visit the ASDECS website and the PCEC website.
